If you have called a pizza shop at 6pm on a Friday, you know the two sounds we are trying to get rid of: the busy signal, and the hold music. We have put something new on the end of our phone line, and it is worth explaining properly, because it is not what most people picture when they hear the word "AI."
One number, call or text
Our line is (724) 517-7994. You can call it, or you can text it, and the same assistant handles both. Our old number, 412-465-5544, still rings straight through to it, so nothing you have saved in your phone stops working.
It answers immediately. Not after four rings, not after a queue. Every single time, including the middle of a dinner rush when every one of us is on the make line.
It actually knows the menu
This is the part that makes the difference. It is not reading a script. It knows every item we sell, every size it comes in, every topping, and what each of those costs. Ask it what is on the Ultimate Meat, ask whether the buffalo is hot, ask what a large with three toppings comes to, and you get a straight answer.
Before it places anything, it reads the whole order back to you with the prices and the total. Nothing goes to the kitchen until you say yes to that.
You can change your mind after you have ordered
Most places, once the order is in, you are calling back and hoping somebody can catch it. Ours can look up the order you just placed and tell you honestly what can still change:
- Adding something โ a soda, a side, another pizza โ works right up until the order leaves the building.
- Sauce or dressing on the side can be changed even while that item is being made. It is the most common thing anybody asks for and it almost always still works.
- Swapping or removing an item works as long as that item has not been started yet.
If something genuinely cannot be changed because it is already out of the oven, it will tell you that instead of promising and disappointing you.
It knows you, if you want it to
If you have ordered from us before, it greets you by name, has your address ready for delivery, and can tell you what you got last time when you say "the usual." It also knows where you are with rewards and how close you are to your next $20 coupon.
Paying
Cash at pickup or at the door, same as always. If you would rather pay by card, it texts you a secure link. One thing we want to be clear about: a card order is held until that payment goes through, and the kitchen does not start it before then. It will tell you that when it sends the link. Change your mind and want to pay cash instead? Reply CASH and it goes to the kitchen right away.
And if you would rather talk to a person
Say so. Ask for a person, or tell it you are not happy, and it stops trying to handle it and gets one of us involved. It is here to answer the phone faster than we can while we are making food, not to put a wall between you and the shop.
Have a look at the menu, then call or text (724) 517-7994 โ or order online if you would rather tap than talk.
